Also known as Safeway

The pictured building, above, was supposed to have housed a Woolworths (aka Safeway in the eastern states) supermarket sometime in 2007 but that has now been severely delayed. Part of the building collapsed on May 19, 2007, leaving one worker briefly trapped in the rubble, inside the safety cage of his forklift which, undoubtedly, saved his life and left him only with minor injuries. This photo, taken on June 10, 2007, shows the building after demolishing work had already begun.

The building was being built using what is known as 'tilt-up' construction, where apparently the structures are relatively unstable until they are completed. Multiple investigations are, of course, underway and hopefully all this reinforces the thinking that when it comes to infrastructure, there should be no shortcuts. The only way should be the safeway.
